Hello Indiana, ​ How's the harping going? I hope you're managing to find a little bit of time for yourself to play. ​ I've realised that you have a much better relationship with music than I do; ​ You don't play music to be the best at it. You don't need to be on stage and the centre of attention. You don't have to be a professional harmonica player. ​ You play harmonica because it is fun and because you enjoy it. ​ This is how it should be - it's taken me a very long time to realise that you have the right attitude. ​ Ever since I got a guitar for Christmas (when I was 14 years old) I wanted to be a professional musician. When I finally went full time I was 23 years old and spent my days practicing, teaching, rehearsing and performing guitar and harmonica. My dream came true! ​ Now that I'm well into my mid-30s I realise that I've gone through a lot of ups and downs in my relationship with music. To be honest a lot of the time I have not loved music at all. ​ All of my identity was tied up in being a musician and getting better at music. ​ I put too much pressure on "music". ​ Music is fun and should be fun. It shouldn't be a competitive sport. ​ Keep "Playing" music and not "Working" music and you'll do just fine. ​ Happy harping! ​ Tomlin ​ P.S.
