September 11, 2023 Hot Tips Retroactive Authorization for Behavioral Health Residential and Treatment Foster Care Services Ending October 1, 2023 September 11, 2023 Effective October 1, 2023, MHD will no longer approve retroactive prior authorization (PA) requests for residential (Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP), non-QRTP, non Institution for Mental Disease (IMD) QRTP), and treatment foster care (TFC) services (TFC Level 1 and TFC Level 2). MHD advises providers with outstanding PA requests for residential or TFC services for fee-for service members, to fax the request for review to (573) 659-0207 by September 29, 2023. As noted in the PA Process-Residential Treatment and Treatment Foster Care provider bulletin effective July 1, 2023, providers may submit authorization request 10 calendar days prior to the requested date of admission.
