 | Inflation probably eased last month. | - This morning: The government's latest data on inflation will be released. It's expected to show that prices rose 3.3% in October over the previous year — lower than September's rate.
- The bigger picture: Inflation looks much better than in 2022, when prices soared to 40-year highs. But prices for essentials are still much higher than before the pandemic.

 | A flesh-eating fungus is thriving in Western states. | - What is it? Coccidioides, the fungus that causes Valley fever. The disease can be debilitating, or even fatal, and cases have quadrupled over the past two decades, the CDC says.
- Why is it spreading? The fungus thrives in dry soils, so human-driven climate change may be a factor. More and more of the U.S. could be affected in decades to come, experts say.

 | An Alabama woman born with two uteruses is pregnant in both. | - This is extremely rare: Only one in a million women become pregnant with two fetuses in separate uteruses, according to one expert. Kelsey Hatcher, 32, is one of them.
- What it means: Hatcher's healthy twin girls are due on Christmas Day. But each uterus could contract at different times, meaning the babies could arrive hours or days apart.
