Created by SLAM's Teen Arts Council, this event highlights fashion in The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century and throughout the Museum with a fashion show, sneaker design competition, community collaborations, games, photo booth, free snacks, and a dance party! YOGA SESSIONS WITH NICO MARIE

November 19 | 10:15-11:15 am | $10

($5 for Members)

In connection with The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century, join Yogi Nico Marie for a yoga session that features Black music in combination with mental/physical wellbeing.

Nico Marie has been teaching yoga with a certification in Vinyasa since 2016, and her mission has been to create space for Black people to receive the healing and health benefits of yoga. No experience needed; sessions are beginner-friendly. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat; water will be provided. Participants must be 18 or older.

Experience The Culture for free! On Fridays, ticketed exhibitions are free and the Museum is open late, with the last entry into the exhibition at 8 pm.

SCREENING: Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World

In celebration of National Hip Hop History month, Nine PBS is partnering with the Saint Louis Art Museum to show special free screenings of PBS documentary Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World.

The first two episodes of the four-part series will be screened in the Museum's Farrell Auditorium each Friday in November. The first episode will be shown at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm; the second episode will be screened at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. No tickets are required.

A special display of American artist Ellsworth Kelly's works is now on view at SLAM in celebration of the centennial anniversary of the artist's birth. To provide insight into the exhibition, Simon Kelly, SLAM's curator of modern and contemporary art, has answered a few questions about Ellsworth Kelly and his experience curating the presentation.
