| | π️ The House has passed Speaker Mike Johnson's plan to avert a government shutdown in a bipartisan vote just days ahead of Friday's deadline. The final vote was 336-95 with more Democrats voting for the stopgap funding bill than Republicans -- 209 to 127, respectively. The bill, which now goes on to the Senate for approval, needed a two-thirds majority to pass. π A senior Israeli political source said Tuesday that progress has been made on a hostage deal and a breakthrough could come in the next 48-72 hours, adding the Israeli War Cabinet is meeting Tuesday night to discuss the deal. Meanwhile in Gaza, a mass grave has been dug inside Al-Shifa Hospital to bury dozens of corpses after Israeli forces banned the Red Cross from collecting the bodies, the director general of the Palestinian Health Ministry said Tuesday. The news comes as the Israel Defense Forces said it's carrying out a "precise and targeted operation against Hamas" in an area in the hospital, calling upon Hamas militants to surrender. π Six people, including three teenagers, were pronounced dead at the scene in a multi-vehicle crash on an Ohio highway Tuesday morning involving a charter bus carrying high school students, officials said. More than a dozen people were also injured in the "chain-reaction crash" when at least three vehicles subsequently caught fire, according to the authorities. π A British professional hockey player was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of manslaughter in the on-ice death of former NHL player Adam Johnson, according to South Yorkshire police.
