| Morning all, this week is set to be a real tough one for NHS services as they face a junior doctors strike just before Christmas - right when they're usually planning to clear the way ahead of the new year rush.
A senior source has said that no major disruption to emergency care has happened yet - although Cheltenham's A&E department has closed until the New Year.
NHS Gloucestershire said plans are in place to make sure those in need can access support during the busiest period of the year, but the strike action will bring "substantial challenges."
And it seems all warnings are pointing to disaster in the new year, with members of the British Medical Association also preparing for the NHS' longest-ever walkout, for six whole days from 3 January.
Your Health Check newsletter is slightly shorter this week as we approach the festive break. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, however you are celebrating, and I'll be back in action next Thursday with more health headlines. | |
