Did you know that the individual contribution limit for our race is $13,200?
That's double the contribution limit for Senate races everywhere else in the country.
I'm very proud *not* to rely on these big checks, in fact 99% of our contributions are of $100 or less. But these high contribution limits are putting us at a disadvantage. More on why and how below, but if you're short on time and able to help us close the gap—you can click here to give $5.
Here's why contribution limits doubled:
After Senator Feinstein passed away in the fall, Governor Newsom appointed Senator Laphonza Butler to serve out the remainder of Feinstein's term. But Newsom also called a special election, allowing California voters to choose who will serve our state beginning November 2024. So the special election will elect someone who serves from November 2024 through January 2025, while the regular election will elect someone to serve a normal six year term that begins in January.
These two elections will take place on the SAME ballot. It does not mean I need to reach the same voters twice, but it means my opponent has the opportunity to hit up the same, wealthy donors again. Politico analysis shows he has 10x the high dollar donors that we do—equating to a multi-million dollar gap in our fundraising.
I know that our team has what it takes to narrow the gap and do more with less. Instead of courting one person with the ability to give $13,200, I'm sending this email. Can we collectively raise $13,200 through this email?
Thank you so much for anything you can give to help us reach our goal.
Katie
