| ☁️ Severe weather across the U.S. has left at least five people dead and is causing rivers to rise to dangerous levels as more winter storms move in. Heavy snow fell in the Sierra Nevada mountain range on Wednesday. It will move through the Rockies on Thursday. This storm will bring another severe weather outbreak to the South from Thursday through Friday. Damaging winds, large hail, flash flooding and tornadoes are possible from Texas to Florida to the Carolinas. ⚖️ The Republican-led House Judiciary and Oversight committees on Wednesday voted to approve recommending Hunter Biden, the president's son, be held in contempt of Congress for defying a congressional subpoena. The decision comes after Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance at the hearing, plunging the proceeding into chaos. 🗳️ Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ended his 2024 presidential campaign on Wednesday. The Republican primary's main Donald Trump critic, Christie failed to gain widespread traction in the polls. Christie's exit is a notable twist in the closing days of campaigning before voting begins in the Republican primary, starting with the Iowa caucuses on Monday. 🏛️ The Ohio House has voted to override Gov. Mike DeWine's veto in a 65-28 vote against Ohio House Bill 68, legislation that would ban transgender minors from receiving gender-affirming medical care and prevent transgender girls from taking part in girls' and women's sports. 🏄 An 80-year-old grandmother has proven to the world that it is never too late to learn a new skill after her granddaughter taught her to surf! | |
