A Certificate Can Be Your Key to A New Career

January 8, 2024 Want a high-paying career but don't want to spend a lot of time in school? Consider certificates. These can be Industry Certificates, Occupational Licenses, Apprenticeship Certificates, or Badges & Micro Credentials. Certificates are usually earned through short, highly focused training and are industry recognized. A certificate shows you have the knowledge or skills required in a specific industry or career. Highway Construction Road Construction Workers have duties ranging from installing the cones, signs and barricades that warn drivers and control the flow of traffic, acting as flagmen to stop or direct traffic, clearing debris from the work site, using jackhammers to break up existing pavement and tending equipment such as cement mixers or asphalt heaters. Road construction workers are typically trained by employers on the job, but some contractor associations and trade unions offer apprenticeship programs containing both classroom and on-the-job training. If you receive SNAP, you are eligible!  The SkillUP program offers SNAP recipients the opportunity to gain skills, job training and work experience through many local community colleges and job centers across Missouri.
