Bee Petition: Your signature can get us a step closer to banning bee-killing pesticides

This is the year we help save the bees, Friend.

That's right. This year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decides whether or not to approve bee-killing pesticides called neonics for another 15 years. Neonics are extraordinarily TOXIC. They attack bees' nervous systems and can harm their ability to navigate, find food, fight pests and diseases — and even reproduce! In fact, the EPA's own assessment found that commonly used neonics contribute to pushing more than 200 threatened and endangered species toward extinction!

Our busy bees work harder than the eye can see, Friend. Bees and other pollinators support 1 of every 3 bites of food that we eat. That's why the dangers of neonics reach farther than harming pollinators. Our grocery stores rely on pollinators to keep shelves stocked. And along with food crops, tens of THOUSANDS of flowering plant species around the world depend on them for survival.

Each day the EPA fails to act, our bees, our food system, and the environment suffer while pesticide companies like Bayer-Monsanto profit. We cannot risk another 15 years and the possibility of losing vulnerable bee populations forever. That's why we're calling on environmentalists like YOU to speak up and stand against corporate greed. Will you sign the petition to demand an END to neonics to help save our pollinators and the planet?

Neonics cannot be washed off of many foods they contaminate, Friend. Friends of the Earth tested foods from major U.S. grocers and found neonics in 73% of applesauce and 80% of spinach samples. In fact, neonics are among the most commonly found pesticides in baby food. This toxic pesticides have been linked to serious health problems, including birth defects of the heart and brain and hormone disruption.

States such as Connecticut, New Jersey, and as of late, New York, have restricted neonics -- and yet the federal government still plans to permit the widespread national use of these toxic pesticides for ANOTHER 15 YEARS, putting corporate interests above pollinators and our health. We need your help now more than ever, Friend. Please, we need you to take URGENT action to PROTECT bees and other pollinators from the INSECT APOCALYPSE. Tell the EPA to BAN bee-killing pesticides immediately! >>

Thanks for taking urgent action to save bees and other pollinators,
Friends of the Earth
