This eighth round of negotiations will be held in hybrid format until 1 March 2024, with the closing session publicly webcast. Read more here and here. Tuesday, 27 February  Virtual press briefing at the global high-level technical meeting on noncommunicable diseases in humanitarian settings When: Tuesday, 27 February 2024 at 17.00 CET To support integration of essential services for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in emergency preparedness and humanitarian response efforts, WHO, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Kenya, and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency are jointly convening a global high-level technical meeting on NCDs in humanitarian settings on 27-29 February in Copenhagen, Denmark. WHO and UNHCR will jointly brief global journalists on the subject on the sidelines of the meeting. By engaging them in evidence-informed deliberation, policy-makers can gain insights into their perspectives, preferences, and experiences. WHO has recently published two new resources to support citizen engagement in evidence-informed decision-making in the health field. In this webinar, you will learn more about these two innovative resources and how they can help you design and implement mini-publics in your context. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the authors and the external editorial board of the documents. More information and registration -- Launch of a new special supplement in BMC Infectious Diseases on Point of Care Testing When: Thursday, 29 February 2024 at 14.00 CET Point-of-care tests are key to controlling and preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The UN Special Programme on Human Reproduction (HRP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have been working to ensure these tests are not only available, but also reliable. As such, HRP has coordinated the largest-ever project on field evaluations of STI diagnostics across 15 countries, 30 sites and including more than 17 000 participants. This webinar will launch a special supplement of seven journal articles in BMC Infectious Diseases entitled Point-of-care Testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections: results of an independent multi-country clinic-based and clinic-utility evaluation of STI diagnostics.
