| Dear Friend, Thank you to our Republican Caucus in the State House for having me in to give a legislative update about what we are doing in Congress. I appreciated highlighting some of my recent work, including questioning Treasury Secretary Yellen on the government’s attempts to search your private financial records and our ongoing efforts to secure the border from the influx of illegal migrants and fentanyl into our neighborhoods. I spoke to the Missouri Farm Bureau and talked about what we are doing to fight back against Joe Biden’s climate policies that are hurting farmers here in Missouri. The government needs to get out of the way so our farmers can grow the food our communities rely on to feed their kids and loved ones. I went live on the air with Mark Reardon for Fish Fry Fridays at Incarnate Word in Chesterfield. This is such a wonderful event for our community to come together, and I was able to give an update on the latest news from Washington, including what we have been doing to secure our border, prevent fentanyl overdoses, and make sure Congress is working for you. As Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I was briefed on the extent of our nation’s fentanyl crisis and the ongoing efforts to protect our communities from this deadly drug. The fentanyl epidemic is only getting worse, and 110,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in the last year alone. Over 6,700 pounds of fentanyl have crossed our southern border this fiscal year, an amount that could kill over a billion people. We have to secure our border so this drug pipeline is shut down and Missouri families are better protected from these dangerous drugs. The Financial Services Committee held a markup last week where we examined a bill that would ensure the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is much more transparent and accountable. HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge went years without testifying in front of our Committee, and this bill would require the Secretary to testify annually, bolstering our commitment to greater oversight. Last week was Independence Day for Bosnia and Herzegovina and I hope all our friends celebrating had a wonderful day. Our Bosnian community here in St. Louis has been great to work with as we strengthen the ties between our two nations. My office continues to provide constituent services to those who need our help. Whether it is a Medicare issue, a problem with the VA or the IRS, or even getting a passport expedited, we can help. Call us at our district offices at 636-779-5449 or 636-231-1001 or visit our website here. Sincerely, Ann Wagner Member of Congress |
