As salaamu alaykum, Indiana—
Ramadan Mubarak!
For many Muslims this is a time of fasting and devotion. It is also a time of great hardship for many of our sisters and brothers around the world, including Sudan and Gaza. This Faith & Action our focus is on Gaza as Palestinians struggle to survive Israel's airstrikes, hunger, and extreme loss.
At MPower Change, we work and pray for an end to this horrific war. Like many of you we ask ourselves, "what more can I do?" And today we offer actions and resources to our MPower community.

During an active genocide, the House is circulating a "discharge petition" to force a vote on more U.S. military aid to Israel. Israel has killed over 39,000 Palestinians in Gaza, restricted humanitarian aid amid starvation, and is ready to invade Rafah, where millions of civilians are sheltering.
This is happening now. Tell our Members of Congress: No more funds for genocide.
Action #2: New resources for #DigitalRamadan!
#DigitalRamadan is our offering to serve as a hub for spiritual and political inspiration for our community that we started in 2020 after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep an eye on our special Gaza 2024 blog for actions, programs and resources to support Palestine through this special month.

Action #3: Reinstate Funding to UNRWA
While Palestinians in Gaza face genocidal violence, the collapse of medical care, and the prospect of starvation, the Biden administration recently chose to stop funding the UN agency that serves them.
UNRWA plays a crucial role in ensuring the distribution of the little aid that does arrive in southern Gaza. There is good reason the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) used the word "catastrophic" to describe the likely consequences of pausing UNRWA aid. We must act now — join us here.

Action #4: One Sweet Watch — "Why Me?"
For Ramadan this year, multiple MPower Change staffers have been enjoying this Ramadan series with Dr. Omar Suleiman, on transforming our perspective on life, and what has been decreed for us. Know this: the world isn't against you—everything has only been perfectly set up for you.
Action #5: One Sweet Read — "Why is Gaza Important? Honoring a Land of Ribat"
Another resource from the Yaqeen Institute that is extremely fitting for this time, this essay provides a superb introduction to Gaza's special status in Islamic teachings and history.
"By the passage of time!
Surely humanity is in grave loss, except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance. Quran 103:1-3"
Wishing you a restful, restorative, and meaningful weekend.
Thank you for all you do,
Ishraq, Linda, Abdullah, Binita, and the rest of the team at MPower Change.
