It feels like the all-inclusive holiday is having something of a moment right now. Since the 1950s when Club Med introduced us to the concept, the idea of booking a holiday with everything included has been a staple of the British holiday landscape. But for a while the whole idea was starting to feel a little, well, tired – conjuring up images watered down booze, endless buffets serving questionable dishes and little escape from the tedium of resort life. | |
| Now with many Brits keen to travel yet feeling the pinch, the appeal of a holiday with no extra costs is back – helped by the fact that holiday companies have woken up to the fact that all-inclusive shouldn't mean boring. Rather than just plopping you in a resort and forgetting about you until the return airport transfer, many packages now involve excursions among local communities, vouchers to eat at outside restaurants and sometimes even the use of electric cars or bicycles to get you out and exploring. So this week, at Independent Travel we're celebrating the all-inclusive – read on for a few of our favourite ways to make the most of these trips in 2024. | |
