The Bost Bulletin Dear Friend, After ignoring the border crisis for years, Joe Biden raced to Brownsville, Texas, last week to try to save his plummeting poll numbers. It’s too late. I’ve been to the southern border twice in the past year – not for photo ops and manufactured press conferences – but to meet eye-to-eye with the men and women of border patrol. They’re overworked and undermanned because this administration has abandoned them. Sugarcoating the Border Crisis Doesn't Make It Go Away Biden bolted to the border in an effort to convince the American people that he’s been on top of this crisis from the beginning. The facts are, under his administration, border encounters have reached record highs and migrants have been flooding into our cities. You can’t sugarcoat this crisis. But Biden’s trying: the White House referred to illegal immigrants as “newcomers” in a briefing paper today. Newcomers? Really? This politically correct nonsense does nothing to fix the problem. Voting No on the Short-Term CR Last week I voted NO on the short-term CR to keep Washington spending at current levels. We can't afford to keep up the status quo. When Southern Illinois families are tightening their belts to make ends meet, the federal government should be no different. Cut spending now. Opposing Biden's EV Mandate House and Senate conservatives are putting up a united front to oppose the Biden administration’s reckless electric vehicle mandate. This push to force the Green New Deal should be a big red flag for America’s consumers and commuters. It only forces us to be more reliant on foreign suppliers, especially China, for charging stations and materials. It puts our supply chain at risk. And it’s just another example of Big Government restricting the rights of the people. Learn more about our opposition here. Supporting Southern Illinois Energy I met with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency and the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association last week. We discussed how we can continue working together to reinforce our energy grid and fortify our supply chains. Thanks to everyone who was able to attend, including Don Canada, Mayor of Metropolis! Speaking About the Farm Bill in Clay County It was a pleasure heading back to Clay County, where I joined the Clay County Farm Bureau Legislative Breakfast this morning. We discussed our upcoming priorities in the Farm Bill, updates on its latest timeline, and what I’ve been up to lately to support biofuels. It is an honor to represent the fine folks of Clay County in Congress!
