The spotlight for the week was on the Federal Reserve’s favored inflation gauge. In January, U.S. inflation remained steady, with the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index increasing by 0.4% for the month and 2.8% from a year ago.  These numbers align closely with the Federal Reserve's inflation target, supporting expectations of potential rate cuts later this year. The data underscores the Fed's cautious approach amid economic fluctuations. U.S. Consumer Confidence: American consumers are showing signs of wavering confidence, with the Conference Board's consumer confidence index dropping to 106.7 from January's revised 110.9. This marks a notable shift in sentiment despite recent positive economic indicators.  2. Housing Market: The U.S. housing market continues to demonstrate resilience. China's Manufacturing PMI: China's manufacturing activity contracted for the fifth consecutive month in February, with the purchasing managers' index (PMI) dropping to 49.1 from 49.2 in January. 4. Eurozone Inflation Trends: Eurozone inflation dipped further this month. Inflation dipped to 2.7% from 3.1% in Germany, to 3.1% from 3.4% in France, and to 2.9% from 3.5% in Spain, with falls driven primarily by energy and food prices.  So, that’s a wrap!
