| | 🏛️ The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ruled in favor of keeping former President Donald Trump on the ballot in Colorado. The historic case had challenged his eligibility to seek the Republican presidential nomination under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment due to his actions around the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The court was unanimous in reversing the unprecedented decision out of Colorado that would have kicked Trump off the ballot under the provision. The news comes on the heels of Super Tuesday, when 16 states, plus the territory of American Samoa, head to the polls. Here's what to know about one of the most significant days of the presidential primary race.
⚖️ Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira, who had been accused of leaking national defense secrets online, accepted a deal to plead guilty and serve a 16-year prison sentence. According to the signed agreement filed with the court, Teixeira, 22, agreed to plead guilty to six counts, including willful retention and transmission of national defense information. In exchange, prosecutors agreed not to charge him with additional counts under the Espionage Act.
💊 Opill, the first over-the-counter birth control pill that can be purchased without a prescription, will be available later this month online and in pharmacies, its parent company, Perrigo, said Monday. The drug has already been on the market for 50 years as prescription birth control, and was determined safe and effective for over-the-counter use by the Food and Drug Administration in July.
🏈 Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce announced his retirement on Monday after 13 seasons in the NFL. The Super Bowl champion and seven-time Pro Bowler delivered an emotional speech highlighting the many highs and lows of his time in the NFL and his college years during the announcement at a press conference held at the Eagles facility.
