Don't use Muslims as 'punching bags' this general election amid Gaza attacks, parties urged | The UK's top organisation for Muslims has urged political leaders not to use minorities as a "punching bag" during campaigns for the upcoming general election amid concerns over an increase in attacks on mosques in the wake of attacks in Gaza. The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) is calling for "hopeful" political lobbying following Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's announcement on Wednesday that the next polling day will take place on 4 July.

Black women in London are said to be facing a "crisis", with higher rates of femicide in the capital than other ethnic groups, figures suggest.
Femicide broadly refers to the killing of a woman or girl because of her gender, highlighting the issue of violence targeted specifically at females.

A League One football club has come under fire after its charitable body published a diversity handbook for staff containing multiple racist slurs, The Independent can reveal. Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation circulated the document geared towards enhancing staff members' knowledge of equality, which referred to Black, Asian and indigenous Aboriginal people using offensive terms.
