Hi folks, it’s Josh Stein, Democratic nominee for governor in battleground North Carolina. My race against an anti-abortion, anti-women, Trump-endorsed candidate was recently classified as a toss-up, so I want to get straight to the point: I need your help. Today is the last day of the quarter, marking a critically important public reporting deadline. With fewer than five months left until this election, polls show my extremist opponent and me TIED. On the other hand, my opponent Mark Robinson has dedicated himself to chaos and extremism: He’s called public educators “wicked people” and has boasted that he has “AR-15s in case the government gets too big for its britches.” He’s pushing for a total abortion ban without exceptions – even in cases of rape or incest. And he’ll strip public school funding and undermine our teachers – he even wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act with no replacement. But here’s the thing: winning won’t be easy. The polls show this race is neck-and-neck. That means there’s a lot riding on this end-of-quarter reporting deadline, especially with Robinson on the ballot. Right-wing national Republicans who support him are going to do everything they can (including spending big $$$) to flip this seat from blue to red, and they’re not stopping at North Carolina – they’ll send their resources anywhere there’s an extremist on the ballot, including federally to Donald Trump. So when a grassroots supporter like you steps up to power this fight, it’s more proof that we’re building a campaign capable of defeating the GOP’s money machine and winning this competitive race.
