A Pickleball x IndyCar Crossover

As pickleball continues to pace as the fastest growing sport in America, it has officially infiltrated the high-octane world of racing. Selkirk Pro Rachel Rohrabacher hit the paddock at the Indy 200 this past weekend with accomplished driver Patricio (Pato) O'Ward as they discussed the intricacies of racing and exchanged stories of becoming top competitors. Rachel also participated in a ride-along with O'Ward, conquering a Mid-Ohio lap at nearly 180mph. A few hours later, Pato O'Ward popped champaign as the Indy 200 champion.

Rachel's thrilling encounter wasn't the only pickleball crossover racing has seen. Pickleball has made its way to the paddock at many similar events, offering teams and fans a way to unwind and pass time on race days. After handing out a few Selkirk Luxx Control Air paddles to driver and crew, it looks like pickleball is here to stay in the world of racing.

Caitlin Clark Hits The Pickleball Court

Caitlin Clark made her pickleball debut this past weekend at a local Indianapolis tournament hosted by fellow Fever star Erica Wheeler. That's another pickleball convert in the books!

Sit-Ins And Pickleball Protests

The explosion in pickleball popularity marked a scramble to find places to play across the country and a temporary transition of existing tennis facilities into pickleball-ready courts. While participation continues to skyrocket, however, some tennis-turned-pickleball courts are being reclaimed, causing a stir among local pickleball communities. Multiple cities and parks have seen pushback from avid pickleball lovers who are even going so far as to prompt sit-ins and protests, like a recent event in a Virginia park.

Though the threat of losing valuable playing facilities is looming, the upside in this continued outcry of support for the sport is an influx of plans to erect brand new pickleball facilities across the nation. From franchised warehouses to city park grants, pickleball popularity is quickly changing city landscapes, like one of the largest pickleball facilities of the midwest — a 50,000 square-foot complex in Michigan — slated for 2025.
