Legendary Wins In Tennessee |
The PPA Bristol Open concluded in showers of emotion as top players and striving athletes claimed gold in a dominant fashion. Here's how Championship Sunday concluded. |
| 103-1 Record By World's Best Duo |
Catherine Parenteau and Anna Leigh Waters have a runaway win record already, but the duo tacked another women's doubles gold onto their impressive careers yesterday. This is their 10th title of the season and 103rd victory of their doubles career. |
| Rising Star Crushes Seasoned Pro |
After just one year of playing PPA tournaments, Quang Duong claimed his first gold medal against one of the most predominant names in pickleball. Duong and his partner Christian Alshon defeated the Johns brothers 11-7, 11-7, 12-10 in one of the most electrifying matches of the year, solidifying Duong's status among the most dangerous players to keep an eye out for in the future. |
| Rivalry Heats Up in Men's Singles |
Ben Johns is no stranger to a gold medal match against Federico Staksrud, and he stretched his winning streak against the number one men's singles player in the world yesterday with a commanding 11-4, 11-9 win in the finals. Staksrud maintains a small lead over Johns in the world rankings, but cannot seem to break through against his closest competitor. |

7-11 Game Targets Doubles Skills With ONLY 2 Players |
If you want to practice your doubles skills but don't have three other people to play with, the 7-11 game is a half-court drill involving only two players that focuses on doubles-specific shots. To start the 7-11 game, split the court in half and position Player 1 at the baseline of one side. Position Player 2 at the kitchen line on the opposite side of the net, directly across from Player 1. The 7-11 game removes serves from the equation, putting pressure on Player 1 to reach the kitchen line while Player 2 already has the advantage. To initiate a ball, Player 2 (from the kitchen line) introduces a friendly ball to Player 1 (at the baseline). Player 1 then has to work their way up to the kitchen line and play out the point. Once the play is over, the winning player adds a point to their score, and Player 1 returns to the baseline. Player 2 introduces a friendly ball, and the process is repeated. Because Player 2 starts in an advantageous position, they must score 11 points to win the game, while Player 1 must score 7 points for a victory. Once a player wins, switch roles and repeat the game. There are eight different rounds you can play, so switch it up based on your game and start improving your doubles skills! |
