What if I told you that to get great at playing 90% of all jazz songs, you only needed to master 3 chords?
Sounds too good to be true?
Well, to be exact, you only need to master 1 chord progression, which consists of only 3 chords.
That's because jazz standards often use this harmonic pattern over and over again. And even when they are not using this exact pattern exclusively, they are using the exact same harmonic movements.
What's the chord progression?
The 2-5-1.
Now, you could fall into one of two camps:
