Publishing This Week

Hello Readers!

This week we've curated 40 books to our shortlist, including a few big name authors.  Before you look at their latest titles, here are three new books by less well known authors you should also check out:

In the Garden of Monsters by Crystal King is a retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, with none other than Salvador Dali as a central character.  As Publishers Weekly writes, "King makes the familiar tale feel fresh with her unusual and enthralling setting, which eerily blurs the real and the surreal. This is an exciting reinterpretation."

For fantasy readers, we have The Naming Song by Jedediah Berry, an "unusual fantasy about reshaping the world with words" (Kirkus)—a perfect fantasy for anyone who's ever dreamed of a stranger, freer, more magical world.

And for readers of Imbolo Mbue and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, we have a debut from Afabwaje Kurian, Before the Mango Ripens, which is set against the backdrop of 1970s Nigeria teetering between post-colonial dependency and self-rule. As Foreward Review writes, "It depicts an array of individual viewpoints, desires, and motivations, spotlighting the challenges of political self-determination and personal fulfillment with skill."  If you're in a book club, or would like to share this book with friends, enter our Book Club Giveaway by Monday.

You'll find brief information on 10 titles below, and descriptions and reviews for all of them in our New This Week section. For more soon to publish books including paperbacks, check out BookBrowse's "What's New" section.

With best wishes,
