The Bost Bulletin

Dear Friend,

We’ve had another busy week fighting to put America First – stopping taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants, securing our elections, and protecting our universities from foreign influence. I also met with law enforcement, farmers, and business leaders to discuss the challenges they’re facing and how we can keep Southern Illinois strong.

Stopping Medicaid Money from Going to Illegal Immigrants

There are six liberal states plus D.C. that provide Medicaid for illegal immigrants. You might not be shocked to learn that Illinois is one of them. I was proud to cosponsor the No Medicaid For Illegal Immigrants Act last week, which will make sure Medicaid only goes to American citizens. American taxpayers who have paid into the system and rightly qualify for benefits should be the only ones who receive them. It’s a joke that we’re funneling billions of our taxpayer dollars every year to support those who willfully broke our laws to be here.

Securing Our Elections

Election integrity is the foundation of our Republic; I’m pleased President Trump is taking action to restore trust at the ballot box. His new executive order today strengthens voter citizenship verification, cracks down on foreign interference, and ensures every vote cast is legal. It’s simple: only American citizens should vote in American elections.

Fighting Foreign Influence

Foreign adversaries like the Chinese Communist Party are pouring billions of dollars into American universities to influence students, research, and national policy - often in secret. Many schools ignore the law and hide these foreign gifts. That’s why I voted for the DETERRENT Act this week to crack down on foreign influence on our college campuses and protect our students by requiring strict disclosure requirements.

Backing the Blue

I have long supported our brave men and women in law enforcement. Today I was honored to host many of our district’s 34 sheriffs for a virtual meeting to thank them for their service and update them on legislation related to illegal immigration, drug abuse, and ensuring they have the resources to protect our streets. County sheriffs and deputies are on the front line in the battle to keep our communities safe. I’ll always support their mission and back the blue.

Investing in America

The United Arab Emirates and President Trump recently agreed to a massive $1.4 trillion investment deal with the U.S., bringing big opportunities for American manufacturing, AI development, and semiconductor production. This is what strong leadership on the world stage looks like: strengthening our economy, creating jobs, and keeping investment here at home instead of losing it to China and other foreign adversaries. Another BIG win for President Trump and the America First agenda!

Talking Taxes with Jack McCormick

There are no reported fatalities in Southern Illinois from the dangerous storms that tore through the region last weekend. As damage continues to be assessed, Tracy and I send our prayers to all families affected, particularly in hardest hit Jackson, Perry, and Cumberland counties. As always, our staff in Mascoutah, Effingham, and Murphysboro stand by ready to help if we can be of assistance.

Discussing Ag with the Illinois Farm Bureau

I had a great meeting with Illinois Farm Bureau members John Yeley and Jenny Bierman from Clark and Jasper counties to discuss the next Farm Bill, trade, and ensuring our farmers have the support they need to feed and fuel our nation. Appreciate all they do!

Bringing the Focus of Infrastructure Back to People, Not Politics

Did you miss the days when transportation funding went to roads, bridges, and waterways instead of Joe Biden’s bike paths and other pet projects? Well, with Donald Trump back in the White House, I look forward to restoring focus on infrastructure that makes our travels safer and more efficient than ever before. Here’s my op-ed in the Washington Times on an issue that impacts every American commuter and consumer.

Honoring Our Heroes

We observed Medal of Honor Day last week, which is a time to reflect on the incredible sacrifices made by generations of our nation’s heroes — those who defended our freedoms with unwavering courage against overwhelming odds. May we never forget their valor, and that freedom isn’t free.
