Market Editorial - Chuck Crow Today is the day after the FOMC announcement, and the market seems to be digesting yesterday’s rate cut and the forward guidance which put some question into the absolute guarantee of a cut in December. A December cut is still at this time the most likely of decisions, but there is plenty of time and information between then and now, seems to be the takeaway. Today is also the day before the last day of October. The market is moving into a closeout trading pattern for the month, and will of course be closing the week on Friday as well. This month opened at 6725.50. The week opened at 6881.00, and both have traded to a high at 6953.75.
 News and Earnings Thursday, October 30 | | • | | Economic Data: Limited scheduled releases, but markets will remain sensitive to any surprise revisions to prior reports or new labor-market indicators. | | | • | | Earnings: Continued heavy flow of quarterly results — especially from industrial, consumer discretionary, and tech names — as the peak of the season winds down. |
Friday, October 31 | | • | | Economic Data: A quieter data day heading into the weekend, though analysts will parse end-of-month positioning and any late-week Treasury or inflation commentary. | | | • | | Earnings: Final notable reports of the week include Waste Management (WM) and Welltower (WELL), capping off one of the busiest earnings stretches of the quarter. |
