Indiana Jones,
The answer is yes. Yes, I am acutely aware of our food spending from week to week and month to month. And yes, I think about it more often around the start of each new year. If you haven't yet resolved to get a little more control of your grocery and food dollars, let this be your encouragement. Here are a few thoughts for your consideration...
1. Stop the DoorDashing (and anything else with convenience fees.) You'd be shocked if you added that up...probably not really worth the extra costs (emergencies not included here!)
2. Skip the drive thru twice a month. Just twice a month. When our family runs through Chick-Fil-A...we are pushing $70 at this point. WHOA. I'm sticking to the $5...$7...$10 dinners that I can make at home.
3. Put your countertop appliances to work for you. I work full time...some weeks, more than full time hours...and the slow cooker and Instant Pot have saved our dinner dozens...hundreds?...of times.
4. Better yet...make freezer meals in batch and then drop them frozen into the slow cooker or Instant Pot. (SEE IMAGE BELOW.)
With a little intention, you can avoid the convenience fees, bringing down the takeout/out to eat spending, and ultimately get your food budget under control. We can do it! YOU CAN DO IT! (Said in my best Rob Schneider, Waterboy voice! lol)
