President Donald Trump plans to close the Kennedy Center for about two years.

Why? To undergo construction, Trump said in a post last night. The project, set to start in July, blindsided center staffers and threw months of prescheduled events into disarray.
Meanwhile: Trump wants to build a 250-foot-tall arch overlooking D.C.'s Potomac River. If he gets his wish, the arch would dwarf the Lincoln Memorial — take a look at the plans.

House Republicans are working to end a partial federal government shutdown.

The timeline: House Speaker Mike Johnson predicted an end to the shutdown, which began early Saturday, by tomorrow. However, securing enough votes won't be easy.
This weekend: Democrats narrowed the Republican majority in the House and flipped a state Senate seat on conservative terrain with a pair of special election wins in Texas.

The details: The latest release contained 3 million pages, the agency said. It is expected to be the last major drop of files from the investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
What they contain: New references to Trump and other famous figures, and photos that appear to show former British prince Andrew crouching over a woman on the floor.
