[ACT NOW] Protect dogs in puppy mills

Urge USDA to require regulated commercial dog breeding facilities to provide better conditions to the thousands of animals in their care.

The Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team assists in the rescue of dogs from a North Carolina puppy mill.

Friend, commercial dog breeding facilities that are regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture must comply with the Animal Welfare Act, but these regulations only require the bare-minimum in care for the tens of thousands of dogs in these facilities across the United States. And what's worse, many breeders who have violated the Animal Welfare Act just continue to breed dogs.

But there is a reason for hope. USDA is starting an official process that could lead to reforms and an actual improvement in the standards of care required at these facilities, but they need to hear from you that the welfare of these dogs is important.

Life for many of these dogs is bleak. Mother dogs spend their lives in cramped cages with little to no personal attention and no love at all, forced to breed repeatedly until they're no longer profitable and are killed or discarded. Now we have a real chance to improve the lives of these animals, but only if we speak up NOW.

Please take a moment to send a message to the USDA in support of their proposed improvements to the care of mother dogs and exercise and socialization requirements at regulated commercial breeding facilities. Please act fast because we only have until March 19th to make our voices heard!
