Good Morning! Cars & Bids hybrid sale in conjunction with the Velocity Invitational seemed to be fairly successful over the weekend. It was an interesting approach where the cars started with online bidding, but ended with a live sale at the event. The cars that sold hit pretty much within expectations, but that Narrow Body Speedster was the one that surprised me the most. Would love to hear from anyone who was there as these ended. Action in the room? |

The Porsche four-cam engine traces its roots to the company’s racing program, where Ernst Fuhrmann developed the complex dual-overhead-camshaft design for the 550 Spyder in the early 1950s. Designed to extract maximum performance from a small-displacement flat-four, the engine quickly proved itself in competition, powering Porsche to class victories around the world. The four-cam made its debut in the 356 lineup in 1955 with the Carrera, bringing race-car technology to the street. Expensive to build and maintain, but incredibly advanced for its day, the Fuhrmann four-cam remains one of the most significant engines in Porsche history. |
This 1957 356A Carrera GT was presented in rare factory-correct Aquamarine Blue over Black leatherette with contrasting Gray corduroy inserts. Subject to a concours-level restoration spanning more than fifteen years, the car has reportedly covered fewer than ten miles since completion and while currently fitted with a 1,582cc flat-for for testing purposes, it was sold with a Type 547/3 four-cam engine no. P90156/666, originally fitted to the 1960 RS-60 Werks Prototype Spyder chassis 044. Its documentation file is equally impressive, including the Porsche Kardex, Reutter body records, factory production documents, and a fascinating Cuban racing history dating back to 1958. |
Over the past twelve months, we’ve only seen one other 356A Carrera GT Coupe cross the block in the U.S., and it failed to sell at a final bid of $500,000. Looking a bit further back, another example sold for $401,000 at Gooding’s Amelia Island sale in 2025. Our Spotlight Car brought $511,000 all-in, a result that feels well-bought given the quality of the restoration, the attractive Aquamarine Blue color, and the exceptional documentation and history that accompanied the car. |

You may have a more expensive watch in your drawer. But this will be the one on your wrist. |

Two things that always go hand in hand are Porsche and watches. Every Porschephile I know is also a watch nerd, and just like Porsches, watches can be enjoyed at all price points. |
Enter Jay Turkbas, founder of Sheffield Watches. Jay approached me two years ago when he was relaunching his new microbrand, inspired by his original Sheffield watch from the 1970s. He took that inspiration and paired it with more than 30 years in product development to bring back the classic Sheffield Dive Watch line, a name once known for honest, low-price-point quality in 1950s New York. |
Today Sheffield Watches has grown to more than 20 models and has partnered with names like Spike Feresten of Spikes Car Radio and Jay Leno, with one of my favorites, the Jay Leno’s Garage Driver’s Watch. Throughout that growth, Jay has kept the same Sheffield philosophy alive, creating watches at accessible price points that outperform expectations in build quality and performance. Give Sheffield Watches a look. I think you will be just as impressed as I am. |

While I wasn’t too surprised that the overseas narrow-body Carrera 3.2 Speedster didn’t sell, I was eagerly awaiting this US-based 1989 911 Narrow Body Speedster to cross the block. Finished in Black over Black, it showed 36,300 miles on the clock and looked to be in nice condition from the pictures in the gallery although it was missing paint meter readings and service history. Still, I expected the fact that only ~161-171 of these were built compared to 2,000 widebody Speedster would push bids. But it failed to sell at a final bid of $166,000, less than the $198,500 average we’ve seen for the market.
Another car that failed to meet expectations was this 2023 911 GT3 Touring 6-Speed finished in Paint-to-Sample Carbon Steel Gray Metallic. Showing 3,800 miles on the clock, it came optioned with a Bordeaux Red Exclusive Manufaktur leather interior, Carbon roof, PCCB brakes, Sport Seats, and much more. It sold at a final bid of $276,000, a good clip below the $288,000 low estimate.
The last time we saw this 1966 912 Coupe was back in September of 2022 when it hammered at $76,500. Originally finished in Ruby Red, it underwent a refurbishment in 2020 which included stripping the body to bare metal and repainting it Blue, re-trimming the interior in Black vinyl with Plaid seat inserts, and fitting the flat-four with a big-bore kit and twin carburetors. Service since the last sale included a brake fluid flush, oil change, and spark plug replacement in 2026. It sold this time around at a final bid of $113,000.

If you think the rear end of this 1960 356B Coupe is drop-dead gorgeous, than you must check out the rest of the pics, all 1,000+ of them. Modified at various stages over 40 years, the rear louvered decklid was inspired by the Carrera GTL Abarth with the front having the bumper mounts filled and a central fuel filler added. On the inside you’ll find aluminum Speedster-style seats in Black and Grey and the 1,582cc engine out back was rebuilt in 2003 and features 8.5:1 compression-ratio pistons and dual Weber 40 IDF carburetors with custom air cleaner assemblies. There are way more details than room here as this is probably one of the most well-documented builds we’ve seen. What a car.
We were on quite the roll earlier this year with 991 GT2 RS listings, but over the last two months, we’ve only seen one example cross the block online in both April and May. June’s GT2 RS is this 2018 example finished in White with a Black leather and Race-Tex interior and shows just 433 miles on the clock. It came optioned with Magnesium wheels, Front Axle Lift, Weissach Package, and more for a total MSRP of $337,750. The current bid sits at almost double the MSRP, but with GT2 action recently, somewhere in the $700k range is more than likely.
Another killer White Porsche is this original-owner 2012 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. Finished in Carrara White with a Cocoa soft top and Sand Beige leather interior, this 71,000-mile 997.2 features White-painted RS Spyder wheels and over $6,000 in Exclusive Options. Putting a number on this one is a bit difficult, as only two examples have sold over the past twelve months, one being a 22,000-mile PTS example that brought $210,000 and the other a 32,000-mile car at $80,000. Given the spec, I think miles might not matter so much, and it will give the $80k car a run for its money.
