Good Morning! I’m starting to think I’ve been lying to myself. I always say Blue is my favorite Porsche color, yet I keep featuring Purple cars. And let’s be honest, Lapis Blue Metallic, the color of my C4S, is really just Porsche’s way of sneaking Purple onto the options list. |

Another Jubilee Edition! But I could not Spotlight this one. For those new since I featured the last 30th Anniversary 911, the Jubilee celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 911 model line with 911 examples finished in either Viola Metallic, Polar Silver, or Amethyst Metallic. It’s a rare car, and one of my favorites. Between this and the Vesuvio cars, I’m starting to think I prefer Purples over Blues. |
This 1993 911 Carrera 4 Coupe 30th Anniversary Jubilee Edition, #491 of the 911 examples produced, came finished in Viola Metallic over a Rubicon Grey leather interior and showed 56,000 km (35k miles) on the odometer. Imported to the United States in 2023, it presented as a very nice example throughout with a gallery full of detailed photos, paint meter readings, the original maintenance book with service stamps, and additional service records. |
After not seeing a 30th Anniversary Jubilee Edition cross the block since March 2025, we’ve now had two sell within ten days of each other. The first was the fully-restored Viola Metallic over Rubicon Grey example that brought $340,964, followed by the 12,840-mile car that sold for $330,000 back in March 2025. Our Spotlight Car, showing 35,000 miles and wearing the same desirable Viola Metallic over Rubicon Grey color combination, sold at a final bid of $300,000. Given the mileage difference, I’d say that was a fair result all around. |

When it was time to sell my beloved C4S, I had all the options available to me. I could have listed it privately, but I didn’t want to deal with weeks of inquiries from buyers who needed financing, lowballers (I know what I got!), or tire-kickers coming to my house. I could have gone the auction route, and I’m well versed there, of course, but I just didn’t have the time to properly list the car or manage the process. I’ve got writing to do. |
In the end, I sold it to a dealer. It was simply easier, and the offer landed right in line with where I would have estimated it had I been writing about it here. |
But I really wish I had known SML reader Niket was launching VinBidders. |
VinBidders is an alternative designed specifically for vehicles like ours, promising strong value for a fraction of the effort. You submit your car in about five minutes. They send an inspector to your driveway and handle the full photo gallery at no cost to you. From there, a network of 30+ verified dealers places blind bids, competing against each other, with no public listing, no VIN history attached to the transaction, and no audience. You only pay $149 if the car sells, and the winning dealer handles all the paperwork, logistics, and payoff. Most sellers get through the process from listing to sale in under a week. |
These dealers NEED your car. And let’s be honest, they’re typically the winning bidders online anyway. Put it in front of them in five minutes and get started with VinBidders today. And if you'd like to use VinBidders to sell your car, promo code STMKT will get you $100 off the seller's listing fee so you pay only $49 and only if your car sells. |

I absolutely love the cars that come out of Sports Purpose over in the UK, and this 1966 911 Coupe they built tops my list as it has competed in plenty of SCCA, PCA, and RMVR events in the US and has been driven in the 2.0-liter Cup since making its way back across the pond since 2017. There’s way to much work to list here, so clicking the link is highly advisable. It sold at a final bid of £112,000 ($147,729), which seems like a deal to me, but I may be a little biased.
While not a new overall high for a 986, this 1999 Boxster set a new twelve-month high for a Tiptronic example, hammering at a final bid of $16,750. Showing 59,000 miles on the odometer, this Guards Red over Savannah Beige 986came from single-family ownership, featured a hard top, and came with a pile of service records. Solid sale, but a solid car.
This 2009 911 Carrera S Coupe, on the other hand, came from its original owner and came finished in fan-favorite Nordic Gold Metallic over a Cocoa Special Leather interior. Showing 73,000 miles on the clock, it featured a maintenance log, DME report, and service records. It sold at a final bid of $69,600, just shy of the high estimate of $71,300. A bit of a deal for a great color combination and history.

Oof, Amethyst Metallic sure looks good on this 1994 911 Turbo 3.6. Finished in the Paint-to-Sample color, this example features a Gray leather interior and shows 64,256 miles. It does show a bit of wear as noted by the seller and doesn’t have much in the way of service records other than the handful on the CarFax. We’ll see if that holds this one under the $400k mark or if color is enough to cross it.
Another PTS car is this 1979 911 Turbo 5-Speed finished in…. color code 179? I’m not too sure what that is as that’s not your typical Porsche color code, but it’s a nice Cream over a Brown leather interior. Showing 59,000 miles on the clock, it has had plenty of work in the last few years with an engine rebuild with 11SC camshafts, a K27 turbocharger, larger intercooler, a Fabspeed exhaust system, and another $37k of work carried out in 2022. Work alone should carry this one close to $200k, and PTS might push it past, if we can just figure out what color it is.
PTS number three for the day is this Mexico Blue 2014 911 Carrera S Cabriolet 7-Speed… with a Carrera Red Natural Leather interior. 😳. Showing 43,800 miles, it’s a very well-optioned car with SportDesign Package, Carrera S Power Kit, and much more for an original MSRP of $182,275. It has some miles on it, but so does the current twelve month high, which sits at $86,000 with 47k.
