In 1974, Porsche commemorated its Can-Am–dominating 917/30 by releasing the 914 Limited Edition, a special run of 1,000 North American–market cars built to stand out visually and pay subtle homage to its racing roots. All were 2.0-liter models equipped with the Appearance Group and LE package, which included alloy wheels, anti-roll bars, a lower front spoiler, and a distinctive “negative” PORSCHE side stripe. Buyers could choose between two bold color schemes: 500 cars in Black with Sunflower Yellow accents—nicknamed “Bumblebee”—and 500 in Light Ivory with Phoenix Red accents, known as “Creamsicle.” Fun fact: despite the car’s Can-Am inspiration, Porsche used the LE name after licensing negotiations with the SCCA fell through. |
This 1974 914 LE 2.0 came finished in Light Ivory with Phoenix Red accents over a Black vinyl interior and showed 57,000 miles on its rolled odometer. Purchased by the seller in 2011, it underwent a multi-year restoration that was completed in 2023, including refinishing the exterior and wheels, with prior engine work including rebuilt cylinder heads in 2009. Overall, a very nice example in the “Creamsicle” livery, which we haven’t seen at auction since 2024. |
Over the past twelve months we’ve seen just one other 914 LE, a 64,000-mile “Bumblebee” in Black with Yellow accents that sold for $31,000. Prior to that we had more Bumblebees in the $29-39,000 range. Our Spotlight Car sold at a final bid of $71,000 thanks to a rarer color combo and recent refresh. |

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this 3,300-mile 2011 GT3 RS 4.0 was bid to $1,335,000…. and didn’t sell. Sure, this is the first car we’ve seen at an online auction this year, but the last car to get into this territory was an 842-mile example in Black, which is a much rarer color. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait another year to see where the 4.0 market is. The last time we saw this 1988 911 Carrera Targa 5-Speed was in October of last year when it sold for $74,000. Finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over a Linen leather interior, this 911 showed a solid 164,000 miles on the odometer, but had 75 pages of service records dating back to 2000 in the gallery. Since it last sold, it has been fitted with an engine management chip and aftermarket exhaust and has had all fluids changed in preparation for the sale. It sold this time around at a final bid of $85,000, topping its previous sale and the high estimate of $73,700. At a final bid of $39,000, this 1966 912 Coupe 5-Speed fell just under the core market for SWB 912 Coupes, which sits between $44,800 and $83,400. It looked to be a nice driver refinished in Red with a Black and Houndstooth interior and had plenty of work including rebuilding the brake calipers, installing Bilstein shocks, and replacing the brake master cylinder, tie rods, and tires. But there was some disclosed rust and with an older repaint, you never quite know what lurks underneath. Fair price here, and maybe a bit of a deal if you’re going to just enjoy it as-is.

918 Spyders have been on quite the tear this year, even the non-Weissach cars are bringing bids close to $3m. But this GT Silver Metallic over Garnet Red 2015 918 Spyder should see over that $3m mark as it comes equipped with Porsche’s Weissach Package and shows just 204 miles on the odometer. Just how high over is the question, as this is the first Silver Weissach-equipped car we’ve seen in some time. 991 Speedsters have been doing quite well this year too as average prices have increased over $30,000 over the past six months. This 2019 911 Speedster show just 298 miles on the clock and is the first Carmine Red example we’ve seen online this year. Low mileage comps have been around the $525,000 mark, but Red may bring the money. Had your heart set on a Creamsicle 914 LE but missed out on the one above? Well today’s your lucky day as we have this 1974 914 LE 2.0 finished in Light Ivory with Phoenix Red accents. This one looks to be in nice condition, was repainted in 2012, and has plenty of service receipts in the gallery, although the latest are a few years old. While I don’t think it will bring the money of our Spotlight Car, I do think it will do well. Probably somewhere in the $30-40k range.
