From the archive 2020 | Magnus Carlsen: ‘You need to be very fortunate to be No 1 in fantasy football’ The week ahead Wednesday | Our live coverage this week begins with the return of Test cricket, as a new-look England begin their Test series against Pakistan at Headingley. We’ll have over-by-over coverage of day one from 11am (all times BST). Thursday | Our OBO cricket coverage continues with updates from day two of England v Pakistan (11am), while we’ll also be across the return of the County Championship with Tanya Aldred’s county cricket liveblog (11am). Surrey v Nottinghamshire and Somerset v Essex are among the games to look out for. Friday | The start of the Premier League season will be heavily previewed in our Friday football liveblog, keeping you up to date with all the pre-match news and comment. From 11am we’ll once again be all over the cricket, with OBO coverage of day three of England v Pakistan and updates from day two of the latest County Championship matches, before we switch back to football and minute-by-minute coverage of the Premier League curtain-raiser as the champions, Arsenal, host newly promoted Coventry (8pm). Saturday | Our weekend kicks off with Matchday Live, bringing updates as we count down to the day’s big kick-offs. Then it’s back over to Headingley and day four of the first England v Pakistan Test at 11am. At the same time our county cricket liveblog resumes with day three in the latest Championship matches. Returning to football, we’ll have MBM coverage of another promoted team, Hull, hosting Manchester United at 12.30pm, and updates from the 3pm kick-offs with our football clockwatch. Attention switches to F1 at 3pm with updates from the Dutch Grand Prix qualifying, then it’s rugby union at 4.10pm and rugby’s ‘greatest rivalry’, as South Africa host New Zealand – we’ll have MBM reporting on the first Test in Johannesburg. A busy day concludes in the Premier League with live coverage of Brentford v Tottenham at 5.30pm. Sunday | We go again with Matchday Live first thing, counting down to the day’s football action before switching to cricket at 11am for the final day’s OBO coverage of England v Pakistan, and updates from the concluding day’s play in the latest County Championship matches. At 2pm we’ll have lap-by-lap updates from the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, while at the same time there will be MBM reporting from Manchester City v Bournemouth in the Premier League. And the Premier League is where our week’s live coverage concludes, with updates from an intriguing opener between Newcastle and Liverpool (4.30pm).   Our journalism is free to say what it wants… but worth paying for.
