What Happened? |
The Department of Homeland Security said U.S. murders are on pace to reach their lowest level in at least 126 years, pointing to new crime data while crediting the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies for the decline. |
Citing a July report from the nonpartisan Council on Criminal Justice, DHS said homicides fell 18% during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year and were down 51% from the first half of 2022. Carjackings dropped 47%, motor vehicle thefts declined 20%, robberies fell 17%, and residential burglaries decreased 13%. |
Aggravated assaults and gun assaults also declined, although domestic violence incidents rose 8% and sexual assaults increased 3%. DHS attributed the overall crime reduction in part to increased deportations of illegal immigrants with criminal records, highlighting several violent offenders removed from the country. |
The White House also credited expanded immigration enforcement, support for law enforcement, and public safety initiatives. However, the Council on Criminal Justice said there is no single explanation for the nationwide decline and plans to study the factors contributing to the trend. |
Why It Matters |
Homicide is perhaps the clearest measure of serious violence and one of the hardest crime statistics to distort through reporting changes. An 18% drop in the first half of 2026, combined with sharp declines in robbery, carjacking, vehicle theft, and burglary, seems to suggest that the improvement is not just limited to one offense or a handful of cities… |

A $2.1 Trillion Energy Breakthrough Years In the Making |
|
|
John D. Rockefeller’s empire would be worth $435 billion in today’s dollars. But “oil money” is old news, and what’s next might surprise you: the $2.1T opportunity in “clean coal.” |
Patented tech from Frontieras is making this possible. It can reform coal into hydrogen and other valuable commodities (like Rockefeller did with oil) without burning it. |
They broke ground on their $850M flagship facility in West Virginia, praised by the state’s governor for creating up to 2,000 potential new jobs. |
With a White House that favors domestic energy and the Nasdaq ticker FASF reserved, this could be investors’ last chance at the current valuation.* |
Don’t wait. Invest in Frontieras now to lock in the $9.01 share price before it changes after 8/6. |

The Trump administration and DHS believe that increased deportations of criminal illegal immigrants have helped reduce violent crime, reinforcing its case for stricter immigration enforcement. However, the Council on Criminal Justice did caution that the nationwide decline cannot be attributed to any single factor. |
Still, the data showing a downward trend in crime and the ramping up of deportations in the last year may certainly be more than a coincidence. While crime trends are influenced by many factors, the administration maintains that taking repeat offenders off the streets has helped reduce violent crime and should remain a central part of its public safety strategy. |
How It Affects You |
Communities with high numbers of violent crime tend to see less business investment, lower property values, and obviously less trust in local neighborhoods. But when violent crime declines, the inverse is also true, which could be welcome news for residents in these communities. |
If the administration continues to tie these lower homicide rates to evidence that stronger immigration enforcement is working, Congress and state leaders are likely to push for additional deportations of criminal illegal immigrants and closer cooperation between federal and local law enforcement. |
If this downward trend in crime continues, the conversation may move away from fluctuations in incidents and toward how to keep it from returning, which is a very different challenge. Historically, maintaining low murder rates tends to require consistent enforcement rather than short-term responses to crime spikes. |
The effectiveness of these policies, particularly those regarding deportations, will be watched closely, specifically if they can prevent violence from climbing again after this historic decline. |
