Amazon Monday toy deals: Rubik's Cube 5x5, Earth Puzzleball, assorted Leapfrog TAG and Didg

Is this new? Not sure, but I was checking Amazon for new November deals and noticed a weekly one-day toy sale called Markdown Monday. At this time of year especially, we can all use a toy sale, right? I found a couple of interesting offerings:

I would wager that the majority of us have a Rubik's Cube floating around our houses. But check this out! The Rubik's Professor Cube 5x5! I don't know why an additional row of squares makes me so excited, but it does. On sale for $17.97 (40% off).

If you've got jigsaw puzzle lovers in your family, Ravesburger Puzzleballs are a fun twist on the usual. This 540-piece Earth puzzle includes glue and a stand so it turns into a spinning globe once the puzzle's complete.

I also see a couple of Leapfrog TAG storybooks (Disney/Pixar Cars: Tractor Tipping, and Disney Princess: Adventure Under the Sea) and Leapfrog Didj games (Indiana Jones and Star Wars: The Clone Wars), in case you're Leapfrog fans (as I am). My kids haven't played with the TAG or Didj toys (only the LeapPad and the Leapster) -- anyone have experience to share?

Prices good today only.

If your baby likes to rip paper and chew it, give her a sheet of nori instead

Seaweed hacks! Brook's suggestion works in the best "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" way:

Give your kids big sheets of nori seaweed when they're at the age to rip up paper and stick it in their mouths. Same ripping and exploration experience, no choking hazard (the seaweed literally melts in their mouths), some phytonutrients get ingested, and they might maintain a taste for sea vegetables. At fifteen, my daughter will still choose to eat a snack of nori!

Amazing. My kids shun eating "leaves" of any kind except seaweed. When wrapped around vegie sushi, they gobble it up. And yet salad is looked upon with scorn. Go figure.

You should be able to find nori in any natural foods or Asian grocery store.
