Magento Celebrates 1st Anniversary of Production Release

March 31st marked the one year anniversary of Magento's first production release and the momentum of Magento continue.

We know that the coming year will continue the exceptional growth, and as the recent 1.3 release shows, the platform will continue to advance and stay on the forefront of the eCommerce technology market.

The numbers speak for themselves, as Magento has now been downloaded over 750,000 times, with an active community of over 84,000 members taking part.

The Magento Connect marketplace continues to grow as well with an increasing amount of extensions available.

We look forward to the continued growth of Magento and are excited at what the future holds.

Thanks for your continued support and Happy Birthday Magento!

Magento Community Initiatives

The Magento community is growing rapidly approaching 80,000 members and in the true spirit of community software development this growth has also brought with it many voices to be heard and many ideas to ponder from a large and ever-growing number of extremely enthusiastic contributors.

We've heard your voices and now time has come for action - to work together to ensure growth of the community and the contributor base, as well as strengthening Magento itself. So we've put together a list of goals which we'll be striving to materialize in the next few weeks.

  • Facilitate communication with the community
  • Establish a community advisory board
  • Establish policy and procedure for community interaction
