MissDomain is organizing a charity auction for the earthquake victims in Haiti based on the initiative and idea of Internetsweden. The auction will include .NU (country of Niue) domains, which are sold worldwide. According to the announcement the ownership of the domains will be free, since the registry Nunames is also sponsoring the contest. Submissions of additional domains are accepted until Feb 4th, 2010. All money will go to UNICEF in order to support their relief efforts in Haiti. The Swedish registry will donate 80 SEK for each domain sold up to a maximum of 8000 SEK.

Yellow Pages Group buys Restaurantica

With the recent news about Geosign Spin-Off Moxy Media, we also came across news about Restaurantica, a restaurant review website that was originally started in 2003 by Ryan May and sold to eMedia, which is owned by Geosign’s founder Tim Nye. Ryan May has sinced moved on and is working on his own projects like for example ASAPLocal (twitter based local information) at his company Charismedia. As announced in a press release, the popular restaurant review site site was now sold to Yellow Pages Group in Canada (TSX:YLO.UN) for an undisclosed amount. Yellow Pages Group was also the company that acquired 400 .ca domains from emall for $2,5m CDN in 2006. The site lists about 400,000 restaurants, bars and cafes and features more than 200,000 user generated reviews. The site receives more than 540,000 visits and over 1.7 million page views each month according to the press release.

DomainFest Global’s Low & No Reserve Live Domain Auction Results
