Legal C Bar
Younger, yet somehow still Legal
230 Legacy Place, Dedham; 781.234.6500
If it's true that everything old is new again, then why are
grandmas such withered feebs? Making old new, and stripping
it of its fear of rock and roll music/teenagers, Legal C Bar.
Aimed at a younger, trendier clientele than its stodgy
full-bodied parent (yet somehow still located in Dedham),
LCB is a hep new "social urban venue" in Legacy Place
serving a slimmed down menu of seafood deliciousness,
upscale "communal" small plates, and an extensive line of
handcrafted cocktails in a sleek 220-seat "metal meets wood"
mod-industrial space replete with/ steel bolted light
hickory panel walls, a two-story metal/glass wine case,
wheeled tables/brown leather booths, and a side-by-side
seating second floor mezzanine that overlooks the parqueted
woodblock bar (who says 3 year olds can't earn their keep?).
Grubwise, there's a massive New England Lobster Bake
(chowda, steamers, chourico, corn on the cob, and a steamed
one pound lobster); a mayo-slathered Seafood Trio Roll piled
with Maine crab meat, fresh lobster, and jumbo shrimp
cocktail; and a hearty whitefish, clam, and chouriço
Portuguese Fisherman Stew, who won't stop telling you how
his son Karl played at Durfee High with Chris Herren. To
wash it all down, they've got a selection of 40+ wines, 16
beers, and cocktails like the My Silky Tie (23-year old aged
Ron Zacapa Centenario Guatemalan Rum blended w/ lime cordial
and almond essence); the pear puree and caramel-syruped P.C.
poured over Bacardi Limon and St. Germain Elderflower
Liqueur; and the French Canadian, a lush mix of French abbey
liqueur, Canadian Club Whiskey, caramel and promises of
cheap cab rides home from Club Supersex.
If, like the ODB, you like it raw, they've got bar bites
like blackened tuna sashimi, cherrystone and littleneck
clams, and four types of oysters, which are all perfect
because, as Nana will inform you, everything teeth is now
no-teeth.
