We Won’t Come - [chrisbrogan.com] |
Posted: 01 Aug 2010 01:30 AM PDT I was just reading about my friend Andrew’s business, Newsvetter. More specifically, I was reading about how he built it to be the best possible opt-in source for media to get pitches back and forth from people who pitch. It’s a great project. It’s a useful platform. No one will come. Here’s why: it’s too much of a “switching cost” to get us not to blast out an email. We’re in the inbox. We have the address. We send. Logging into a system is like having to go find that other phone you bought and dialing in each number one at a time by hand. It’s work. Is it the right way? Yes. Is it the best way? Yes. Is it the way that most media people like me would suddenly find ourselves flooded with only relevant and interesting stuff? Yes. We won’t do it. No one will come. Andrew is a really smart guy working on a lot of great stuff. His comics are fun, too. Swing by his blog and click a few links. I think you’ll find some great thoughts inside this inspiring guy. |
