Organ Trail
A new, old-school way to kill zombies
If there's one thing Oregon Trail taught an entire generation of children, it's that the best way to cope with the senseless loss of a loved one is through the accumulation of even-more-senseless amounts of bear meat. But it didn't have much to say on zombies, so now there's Organ Trail.
Just recently moved into beta from a Chi-based indie video game outfit, OT takes the style of the educational gaming classic and sets it in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., where all survivors are ordered to flee an impending nuclear strike meant to destroy a city overrun by vicious beings wreaking havoc on all humanity, and also ...zombies. Prior to embarking, choose your profession (cop from Kentucky, lawyer from Miami, etc.) and budget the 32 hours provided to scavenge for necessities like gas, food, medical supplies, ammo, spare car parts, and cash, 'cause no road trip is complete without a little Live at Folsom Prison. From there the cross-country journey will challenge you to keep all five members of your party alive as you gun down the undead while foraging for more supplies, suffer setbacks like the T virus and random zombie bites, and discern the best methods to navigate roving zombie hordes, from going stealth, to hiring mercenaries, to just grabbing weapons and going for it yourself, aka The Gilbert Arenas.
Being in beta, they're still in the process of rolling out improvements like additional artwork, extra mini-games, and saving ability, though sadly no technology is available to help you save 2000 pounds of totally smoked bear.
