Finalists in the automotive category included two imports, the electrically powered Nissan Leaf and the Hyundai Sonata. In a statement, Ford President of the Americas Mark Fields said the company would "continue to grow our product line up," which includes a deeper push into hybrid and electronic technology, The Detroit News reported.

Exports rose to a record level but imports rose further, pushed by rising commodity prices, The Wall Street Journal reported. For the year, China posted a trade surplus of $183.1 billion.
