Cuomo sworn in as New York governor

ALBANY, N.Y. (UPI) -- Andrew Mark Cuomo became New York's 56th governor in a private ceremony with family and friends at the Executive Mansion in Albany, officials said.

The new governor wasted no time getting to work and planned his first staff meeting for Saturday, The New York Times reported.

Baby-boomer vanguard reaches 65

NEW YORK (UPI) -- An author who has researched the baby boom generation says it will be hard to predict how these millions of Americans will handle senior-citizen status.

Drones attack suspected militants

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (UPI) -- U.S. drone attacks in northwest Pakistan killed as many as 11 suspected militants, officials said.

The number of dead reported in Saturday's attacks in the North Waziristan tribal region varies, but the BBC said 11 suspected militants were killed in the attack.

Furor reverses Bolivian fuel increases

LA PAZ, Bolivia (UPI) -- Mass protests supported by the military prompted Bolivian President Evo Morales to rescind 70 percent fuel price increases on the last day of 2010.
