Binary Turf - IE9 Review — A Brief Review Of Internet Explorer 9 | |
| IE9 Review — A Brief Review Of Internet Explorer 9 Posted: 18 Mar 2011 07:58 AM PDT After reading about the WP7 experience, I realised the opinions can be biased or inspired of the herd mentality. So I took my chances and upgraded to IE9. Being a developer in the Firefox space, Firefox is my primary browser and Chrome the secondary (for any purposes small n quick). But IE9 caught me by surprise. The focus (or point of inspiration) has shifted from Firefox to Google Chrome. Swift start-up, quick opening of new tabs, sleekness, a separate download window… all seems like Google Chrome in a new UI. And a point to note is that when browsers say they are fast, they are referring to website rendering. They do not refer to startup times. Additionally, nothing much can be done about web server requests. So really a fast browser is only rendering the sites swiftly. But the desktop user is looking for something like Chrome which pops up faster, ready to use and responsive. IE has done just that. With IE9 everything falls into place and Microsoft has done nothing wrong, really. But I’m still waiting to see if they’ve started paying heed to standards yet. © Binary Turf.
