Rozzell was 8-of-13 from the field and scored 26 points, pushing the Rams into a game Sunday against third-seeded Purdue. The Boilermakers advanced with a 65-43 decision over St. Peter's. Joey Rodriguez made all nine of his free-throw attempts and scored 17 points for Virginia Commonwealth (25-11), one of two teams from the Colonial Athletic Association still alive in the tournament. Although the listed prize money at the event will count in the official LPGA statistics, the players will receive none of it. All of the money will go to the charities of the competitors' choice and many of them have designated the relief efforts in Japan as their charity this week. Stanford suffered a double bogey at the par-4 eighth at the Desert Ridge Resort course, but then holed her second shot from a bunker for an eagle at the next hole. Brittany Lincicome and Aree Song shared second place at 67 while Juli Inkster was tied for fourth at 68 with Sophie Gustafson, Nannette Hill, Mina Harigae, Beatriz Recari and Amelia Lewis. The Coyotes ended Vancouver's seven-game winning streak and extended their own winning streak to five games. Phoenix is one point behind San Jose for the lead in the Pacific Division -- and for third place overall in the Western Conference. The contest was scoreless heading into the third period but Radim Vrbata and Shane Doan scored 78 seconds apart to put the Coyotes in front. Both goals came on the power play. Christian Ehrhoff kept Vancouver's hopes alive by beating LaBarbera with 2:58 to play but Lee Stempniak put the puck into an empty net with 1:05 remaining to clinch the victory. Vancouver remained nine points ahead of its closest competition in the race for the best record in the NHL. Roberto Luongo took the loss, stopping 26 shots. It was only his second setback in seven games this month. Copyright 2011 by United Press International More in Hockey: NHL: Carolina 3, N.Y. (UPI) -- Carl Edwards, who won the most recent Sprint Cup race contested, captured the pole Friday for Sunday's running of the Jeff Byrd 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Edwards picked up his second pole of the season by turning a lap around the half-mile track in 128.014 mph. He was also quickest during the only practice session held Friday. Edwards won in Las Vegas prior to the Sprint Cup series taking last week off. "This is unreal and I hope this keeps going," said Edwards, who won the ninth pole of his Sprint Cup career. He has won twice at Bristol. Greg Biffle will start on the outside of the first row after producing a lap that was .05 of a second slower than that of Edwards. Regan Smith, Paul Menard and David Ragan rounded out the top five qualifiers, followed by Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Mark Martin and Kasey Kahne. Johnson won this race last year. Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch share the series points lead after three races. Stewart will start 13th and Busch 20th. After the teams had troubles with their tires during practice and qualifying, Goodyear said it would make a change in compounds and the company brought in close to 1,200 new tires from its Charlotte-area warehouse.
