The Playbook

Reminisce: Imagerich Maps
Part of an archival-paper series based on research at various American cities' Libraries of Congress, this 1892 map of Dallas features the Trinity River as a prominent civic feature, plus rail lines, early roads, sketches of various buildings (the Oak Cliff College for Young Ladies!), and numerous ads for then-businesses, from steamboat ticket agents to attorney Gideon J. Cooch -- who, despite his name, you might want to hire to sue whoever sold you that ticket for a Trinity River steamboat.
Also, "Cooch" sounds like a vajayjay! See Dallas back when its D wasn't so big, by clicking right here.

Make: Uncle Joe's BBQ Sauce-In-A-Bag
This novel product was created by a San Antonio man who wanted to recapture the magic of his uncle's sauce in a way that 1) maintained freshness (hence the dry packaging) and 2) encouraged those who liked things even spicier to toss in their own ingredients. To make, just add water, ketchup, and whatever the hell else you want to four base recipes: original, chipotle, Southwest, or honey mesquite, though if your honey lives in Mesquite, you'd better double-sauce-bag it.
Just kidding, Skeeters! You are all very wholesome. Grab Uncle Joe's at Central Market, or order it online right here.

Play/Learn: Built Fort Worth
This surprisingly addictive guide gives you the lowdown on 130 FW buildings -- from the Gainsco to the Flatiron -- complete with photographs, detailed descriptions, historical info, and architect bios, so you'll know the difference between Wiley G. Clarkson, who built his career on classics like the Woolworth, and fellow native Kelly Clarkson, who built her career on classics like "It's Raining Men".

Wear: Loft 604
Just arrived in Dallas, this "European lifestyle"-inspired Toronto gear company uses materials both traditional (cashmere) and planet-friendly (bamboo knit) in pieces like double-breasted shawl vests, mint green micro-collared polos, and cardigans in sand and green, the latter signifying envy over the success of Ace of Base.

Rev: Good Guys Autocross
In conjunction with this year's Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway, 1500 cars ranging from '34 Fords to old Goats to '69 Boss Mustangs will compete to see which of the vintage beasts can best tackle the tight, coned off handling course -- the last time a Mustang changed directions this quickly, he was smoking Sherwood's Blount.
There're also 100s of vendors and a swap meet; check it out at www.springlonestarnats.com

Our Edgar Allan Bros at JT have landed a batch of the crowd-sourced design collective's idiosyncratic wares, including a modular pocket knife you can equip with up to 13 of the included 18 tools, sadly leaving the remaining five to reform Menudo on their own.
