Man allegedly uses Bible for rolling paper

ROCK HILL, S.C. (UPI) -- Guards at a South Carolina jail who smelled marijuana coming from a holding cell found a joint rolled in a page from a Bible, officials said.

A report by jail guards said David Allen Henson, 24, who had been arrested after police allegedly found marijuana in his car, 'fessed up after all the inmates in the cell were told they would be charged with possession if the offender did not come forward, The Herald of Rock Hill reported.

Henson of Rock Hill was pulled over Monday night. Officers allege he was driving erratically and that a search of his car turned up marijuana and bottles of generic anti-depressants and pain killers, syringes and a scale.

Angry wife cut crotches from rival's pants

WILMETTE, Ill. (UPI) -- Police in Illinois said a woman who discovered her husband was vacationing with another woman cut the crotch areas out of the other woman's pants.

Officers said the husband and the other woman, who the man said is a platonic friend visiting from Turkey, returned March 5 from a weeklong trip to St. Lucia to find a suitcase in the man's Wilmette driveway containing about 10 pieces of the other woman's clothing, estimated to be worth $1,500 to $2,000, with the crotches cut out, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

The husband told police he and his wife are separated and she lives on the East Coast of the United States.

The wife told police she and her husband are still together but live in separate states for work reasons. She said he told her he was attending a business conference and she became enraged when she learned he was vacationing with another woman.

She said she flew to Illinois and was further enraged to discover her husband "had hidden everything that would reveal he was married." She admitted cutting up items of the other woman's clothing she found in the house and leaving them in the suitcase in the driveway.

The other woman declined to press charges and the case is considered closed, police said.

'Watchgator' seized at pot grow house

HEMET, Calif. (UPI) -- U.S. Department of Justice agents said they seized a 4-foot alligator being used to guard a $1.5 million marijuana stash in California.

Investigators said Wally the "watchgator" was found in a water-filled cement-mixing tub in a back room of the Hemet home where agents seized 2,285 marijuana plants, worth an estimated $1.5 million, as well as processed marijuana and hashish, The (Riverside) Press-Enterprise reported Friday.

John Nathan Donna, 29, was arrested during the Monday night raid on suspicion of possession of concentrated cannabis and cultivation of marijuana for sale. He was released Tuesday on $100,000 bail.

The alligator was taken to the Forever Wild Exotic Animal Sanctuary in San Bernardino County.

"He was extremely healthy -- a little too well taken care of," said Joel Almquist, who runs the sanctuary. "It's still an alligator; some are pretty mellow, but if you get bit by a three-footer, you're going to remember it for a long time. It's kind of like being bit by a vise with teeth. It's not a pleasant experience."
