Tips For Traveling With Baby

First, you should log onto Travel BaBees to find the nearest location to your destination, where you will be able to find the exact baby equipment rental items you'll need for baby while away from home. Items will even be delivered to your door step!

Whenever possible, although it is more expensive, you should purchase a seat for your baby. Many parents feel more secure by holding baby in their lap, but in fact it's not the most secure seat for the baby. They are much safer in an FAA approved car seat.

It you're going on a long trip and your child is particularly restless or active, schedule a stopover to give everyone a chance to get off the plane, stretch and move around.

Getting your seat assignment in advance is a way to ensure that families will be seated together. Try to get bulkhead seating, usually the first row in economy class. They generally offer more room and you'll be removed from most of the plane if your baby gets fussy.

Allow plenty of time to get to the airport for check-in and connecting flights. Arriving early prevents last minute delays and confusion. In the event that changes should occur you will be in a better mental state to deal with the situation.

Check as many bags as you can, but keeping one carry-on stocked with diapers, wipes, extra clothes, baby's favorite snacks and toys. Don't pull out new toys unless your baby no longer shows any interest in the current one. Exhaust all creativeness with each toy so there will be plenty to entertain him/her throughout your trip.

Don't board early. If you can, send another adult ahead with the carry-on baggage while you stay out in the lobby, allowing your baby to play until the last minute.

Be sure to bring bottles, pacifiers, etc. for your baby to suck on during the ascent and descent. This will counteract the pressure and reduce the chances of painful earaches. It may also make your baby more relaxed.

Once you arrive be mindful of your baby's schedule. You should keep as close to your baby's regular routine as possible. Take your cue from the baby when they have reached their limits.
