30 Ways We've Helped Wounded Warriors
#1: Loving Them Unconditionally
PHFS West Coast Manager Joyce Orrell and Marines after enjoying lunch together.
The greatest thing Purple Heart Family Support and its amazing volunteers can do
for our wounded warriors is show them love and appreciation each and every day.
Both components of the program, East and West Coast, put 110% into our wounded
warriors and their families in any way they can.
West Coast Manager Joyce Orrell is as much of a "mom" to each Marine she comes into
contact with as she can be. The amount of time she spends with our wounded warriors
is incredible....she rarely leaves enough time for herself each week. When asked
what it is that PHFS does for the wounded warriors, she says that the most important
thing is loving them unconditionally.
She says, "Taking the time with our Marines, sitting down with them on Thursdays,
letting each of them know individually that they are loved and we are there for
them. It is the unconditional love, they know they can speak to the volunteers regarding
anything. We're they're family, they know us. When they leave, they continue to
keep in contact."
As this is the last in our series of ways we have helped the wounded warriors, we
would like to take this time to thank each and every one of our PHFS volunteers
for their vast amounts of time, energy and love that they put into the program and
our wounded warriors. Their work is appreciated and acknowledged.
