Rock Hill, S.C., to host 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships
2012 Regional Championship hosts: Lancaster, Pa., Saginaw, Mich., Greenville, S.C. and Phoenix, Ariz.
FRISCO, Texas (August 31, 2011) - US Youth Soccer is proud to announce the dates and locations for the 2012 US Youth Soccer Regional and National Championships, part of the annual US Youth Soccer National Championship Series http://idevmail.americaneagle.com/link.aspx?l=7&d=227&mid=698003&m=1342 the country's most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The 2012 US Youth Soccer Region National Championships will be held in Rock Hills, S.C. Manchester Meadows will host boys and girls teams ages Under-14 through U-19 from around the country as they compete to prove they are the best against the best.
In order to earn their way to the National Championships, more than 10,000 teams will begin the journey in local state cups. State Cup winners and state representatives will then advance to one of four Regional Championships across the country...
East - The 2012 US Youth Soccer Region I (East) Championships will be held in Lancaster, Pa. and feature teams in the Under-12 through U-19 age groups for boys and girls. Classics Park Soccer Complex, Hempfield High School and East Petersburg Elementary School Complex will host teams from around the northeast for the second straight year.
Midwest - The Region II (Midwest) Championships will be held in Saginaw, Mich. Saginaw Township Soccer Complex will host boys and girls teams ages Under-13 through U-19 from around the Midwest.
South - Teams in the Region III (South) Championships will have to pass through South Carolina to get to South Carolina, as the Region III Championships will be held in Greenville, SC. MeSA Soccer Complex will host boys and girls teams ages Under-14 through U-19.
West - After playing host to the US Youth Soccer National Championships in 2011, the 2012 US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) Championships will be held in Phoenix, Ariz. Reach 11 Sports Complex will host boys and girls teams ages Under-12 through U-19.
The national championships are the final chapter in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, a yearlong series of events in which more than 10,000 teams compete annually. US Youth Soccer Regional Champions and US Youth Soccer National League representative teams will take the field of 60 teams at Manchester Meadows for the chance to claim a national championship.
Each year brings about new challenges and highlights the motivation and commitment of these youth players as they continue pursuing their dreams of being one of the best youth soccer teams in the U.S. The national championships are the final step of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series and open to any US Youth Soccer member. Annually, the Series provides the nation's top collegiate coaches with the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country. In 2011, more than 600 college coaches attended the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships.
The U.S. Soccer Federation initiated the open youth championships with the James P. McGuire Cup (Under-19 Boys), the oldest trophy in youth sport, in 1935. Since its inception in 1974, US Youth Soccer has added 11 divisions to the national championship tournament, most recently with the Under-14 and Under-15 Boys and Girls divisions in 2001 to create the current format.

About the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series - The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships. These champions and selected wildcard teams, through US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues, advance to compete in one of four the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships.
