It’s not quite like the 2009 Bruce Willis movie Surrogates. It’s not even much like piloting a remote operated vehicle in the 1989 movie The Abyss. But if you would rather work from home in your pajamas while still being able to stroll alongside the guy or gal who usually sits next to you in meetings, then the latest wave of telepresence robots represents the next step in fulfilling your dream.


VGo Communications, a New Hampshire-based robotics company, manufactures a line of four-foot tall telepresence robots. These robots take remote work to the next level. They are, of course, equipped with speakers, cameras and microphones, allowing for traditional video conferencing.
