The Playbook
Speak Easily: Bar 828
828 W Davis; Oak Cliff
Running Thurs-Sat through the end of the month, Lucky Campbell and Michael Martinsen's popup Oak Cliff speakeasy will trot out both early 20thC cocktails and recipes benefiting from the bartenders' newest techniques. Guest drinksmen will drop in from spots like Marquee, Whiskey Cake, Bolsa, Standard Pour, Cedars Social, and Usual Bar, the place suspected of totally messing up Stephen Baldwin's brain.
A rotating procession of food trucks will provide food, and trucks. Click here to see Mr. Martinsen in action.

Made the Favorite 5: The Hub Sports Bar and Grill
4145 Belt Line Rd; Addison; 972.385.3558
The Hub's barreling into our Favorite 5 Sports Bars list because it's got one more flatscreen than there are not-pathetic college football teams (26), plus eight projectors, $5 Hangover and Lunch menus, a big-ass regular menu holding numbers like a Cajun burger w/ jalapeno cheddar & fried pickles, free pre-MNF buffets, and an About The Staff webpage bearing this quote: "Despite his record as a registered sex offender, Sean has a perfect customer service record and a very good credit rating." So apparently Free Credit Report doesn't cross-reference every database.
They've got every The Bartender Hates You video ever on their website (click thru to Facebook for info on specials)

Party in the Street: Art of Knox
To celebrate becoming a "branded area" of Dallas, Knox will host an afternoon street fest a week from Saturday, blowing it out with cover tunes from Special Edition Band and Live80, food & bevvies from restos like Abacus, Café Madrid, Little Katana, HP Pharmacy, and Villa O, and demos from Milestone Culinary Arts Center, Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams, Sur la Table, and Forty Five Ten, also a second-half lead no qb could blow. Probably.
